

A graduate of the prestigious Jazz Program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Oscar Henfrey is a drummer, composer, improviser and producer. He has made a name for himself as a highly in demand session player touring in Australia, and internationally, with some of the most celebrated musicians in the rock, electronic, jazz, alt-country and Indie music scenes.
He has worked with an impressive range of artists on stage and in the studio, from highly awarded Kiwi songsmith Marlon Williams, up and coming singer songwriter Indigo Sparke, to Aria award winners and nominees Ruby Boots, Charlie Collins, Fanny Lumsden and Australian award nominee Freya Josephine Hollick .
As an improviser, his close circle of collaborators includes Freedman Fellowship recipients Novak Manojlovic and Hilary Geddes who was also awarded the Jann Rutherford Award for exceptional female Jazz Artists. Oscar performed co-written works with Hilary as a part of the prestigious Phoenix Central Park Series, curated by esteemed philanthropist for the arts Judith Neilson AM (Order of Australia). He also performed a suite of solo works for drum kit and electronics in the same series.
In 2022 Oscar toured with celebrated cult icon Kirin J Callinan, and Indie darlings Clews. He then travelled to the UK and Europe with acclaimed Sydney electronic artist and producer Setwun to appear at Giles Peterson’s ‘We out Here’ Festival and several showcase performances in Europe including Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz Cafe. He also performed with singer/songwriter Annie Hamilton in Europe and at South By South West Austin 2023.
Oscar is now based in New York City.
